Introduction to From the
Branch ~ A Primer in Dianic Witchcraft
"Creating and Using
Magical Cauldrons"
Within the cauldron resounds
the great hollowness of antiquity. All combination of time and necessity
is stirred and beaten there. The course of nature shapes its smooth,
hard sides. Within it, the bubbling movements of a million processes
arise and pass away, creating a source of fertility that never ceases.
Cauldron describes the sense of age, distilled wisdom and new potency
that lies within it. Rituals condense the knowledge of the Cauldron,
and impart it directly to you, stimulating and intoxicating you
into passionate creation.
Saturday, July 12th, 10:00
am to 1:00 pm
Importance
of Ritual
The
reason and the importance of ritual, in the Craft, as in all world
religions and spiritual paths, is the achievement of a more awakened
consciousness, to touch on all of the physical senses in such a
way as to awaken one to a higher level of spiritual awareness.
In
this workshop we will explore how we use ritual in our lives, the
value of creating sacred space as defined as a place set apart to
use for sacred work such as meditation, prayer, ritual, magical
work, any type of activity whose purpose is to achieve a transcended
state.
Have
you a place created in your home that for you is sacred space? What
about outside? Have you a sacred altar in your garden? Have you
ever taken a walk and created spontaneously, a small shrine in nature,
something up beside a tree perhaps? We will also talk about casting
Circles for the purpose of doing ritual and magical work.
Saturday,
July 26th, 10:00 am to 1:00 pm
Introduction
to the Ogham ~ Creating Glory Twigs
What
is it that was created by Ogma Sun Face, the all powerful? What
is it that has five sets of fingers as do five hands? What is it
that goes first in small steps to the left, then small steps to
the right, then in a diagonal, then right across, and then fits
neatly into a Crane Bag? What is it that is formed with the fingers
and the thumb, against the straight nose? What is it that is formed
with the fingers and the thumb, against the shin bone? What is it
that lies hidden within a poem, like a salmon in deep water, to
rise only when the initiate calls? Why did the great beast fail
to give MacVurich the wild fig, the aspen of the cross, the crooked
yew, the blackthorn and the ivy?
In
this workshop we will explore just a small part of the Ogham focusing
on creating and using Ogham Staves called Glory Twigs.
Saturday,
August 9th , 10:00 am to 1:00 pm
Introduction
to Magic
Since the beginning of time, people have practiced magic. There
have always been those who know what plant allies to use, how to
work with devas (unseen spirits) present in all of life. For thousands
of years, there have been people who know how to work with the energies
of life in the practice of magic. The ingredients are simple. For
me, magic is recognition that I am one with the web of life and
also a co-creator in my life, that I may manifest my desires through
an active use of my mind, my imagination, my creative energy, and
the energy of my kin (all of the web of life).
In this workshop we will explore magical theory and application
using herbs, oils, candles, and stones.
Saturday,
August 23rd , 10:00 am to 1:00 pm
Sensing,
Feeling, Moving in the Body
As
human beings we are capable of having fully "sensing"
bodies. We come into this world as infants, somatic in nature -
all sensory awareness - without cognitive process ~ all feeling.
Our parents, in their care for us, serve as the cognitive part of
our worlds until we reach a certain stage of development then able
to move from our full body awareness into our cerebral functioning,
thinking processes.
Because
so many of us grew up in troubled homes, we have few memories of
being children. Many of us have very little awareness of being fully
alive, expressive, and in our bodies. Many of us left our child
self behind and our task now is to retrieve her, to find that child
of feeling, the one who experiences pleasurable sensation all throughout
her body.In this workshop we will explore all of the sense and then
move fully into the body using ecstatic dance.
